“The Brand Olympics”to be Held on Aug.8

  The 3rd Brand China Festival, hailed as the Brand Olympics, will be held on August8 this year in Qingdao city, Shandong Province.

  On March 4, 2009, the press conference of the 3rd Brand China Festival, viz. the signing ceremony of the cooperation between Brand China and Qingdao city was held in ACFTU Hotel in Beijing. Over 200 people, including CCPIT (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade), Qingdao governmental leaders, BCIU leaders, BCIU experts, famous business people, and media, attended the conference and the ceremony.

  Qingdao’s mayor Xiageng and the BCIU Chairman Aifeng signed and exchanged the cooperation agreement between the two sides.

  According to Wangyong, Secretary General of BCIU and the 3rd Brand China Festival Organizing Committee, the festival will be held in Qingdao from August 8 to 10. With “Reevaluate Brand Value, Reconstruct China’s Confidence” as the theme, the festival is co-sponsored by BCIU, CCPIT, Shandong provincial government and Qingdao municipal government.

  During the festival, a number of activities, including the 8th Brand China Summit, 2008-2009 Brand China Top List and the Exhibition of Chinese Brand Achievements over 60 Years will be held. It is estimated that about 5,000 attendants and 500 media will be present at the festival. It is the “Olympics” in the Chinese brand circle.

  Why is the 3rd Brand China Festival hailed as the “Brand Olympics”? To answer this question, Secretary General Wangyong reviewed the close relationship between Brand China and the Olympic Games.

  According to Wang, August 8 was set as the date for Brand China Festival on Aug. 8, 2006 in accordance with the suggestions of Aifeng, the Chairman of BCIU. Ai elaborated the reasons in the following: because the Brand China Festival should “Draw support from the Olympics”, “Learn from the Olympics”, “Deepen and Develop the Olympics”.

  The 1st Brand China Festival was held in Beijing on Aug.8-9, attended by over 3,000 guests. Brand China Festival is the first festival to fix its date on Aug. 8, and also the largest and the most popular festival of its kind. Under the influence of the 2008 Olympics, the 1st Brand China Festival turned out to be a great success.

  The 2nd Brand China Festival was held from Oct. 1 to 3 in the National Indoor Stadium in Beijing, attended by over 10,000 people. Being held 30 days later than the Olympics, the 2nd Brand China Festival summarized the roles the Chinese brands played in the 2008 Olympic Games in a comprehensive manner.

  The 3rd Brand China Festival will be held on Aug. 8, 2009 in Qingdao, Shandong province. Being held on the anniversary and in the sailing venue of the 2008 Olympics, the festival is of particular significance. First, drawing on the experience of the Olympics, BCIU tries to promote the Olympic spirit and make the Brand China Festival a real “Olympics” in the brand circle. Secondly, with the cooperation of Qingdao, the Brand Capital of China, we hope to promote regional economic development through brand promotion.

  Defined as “the torch on the journey of Chinese brand promotion”, Brand China Festival aims to build a platform for exchanges. By holding forums and elections, we are determined to make contribution to Chinese brand promotion. We firmly believe that the 3rd Brand China Festival will be “The Brand Olympics” in 2009.
